Why insurance is the hard case
Assistants are cautious about money, health and law. Ask one who to hire for a haircut and it will name three shops. Ask it who to buy life insurance from and it hedges, points you at a comparison site, and tells you to speak to a licensed professional. That caution is correct, and it is also the whole problem for a small agency: the model would rather name nobody than name someone it cannot verify.
So the build was not about persuading a model to recommend an insurance agency. It was about making one agency the easiest in the state to confirm as real, licensed and specific.
What we built
Licensing the model can check
The site's structured data names the founder as a licensed producer and carries the National Producer Number as a typed identifier rather than as decoration in the footer. That is a public register entry an assistant or a person can look up. In a regulated sector, verifiable credentials are the difference between a business a model will name and one it will only describe.
An entity graph, not a plugin's guess
The agency is marked up as both an insurance agency and a local business, with the state it serves, the contact routes, and each product written as a separate offer: mortgage protection, term life, final expense, living benefits. Most small agency sites carry a generic organisation block from a theme, which tells a model almost nothing. This one states the business the way you would explain it to a regulator.
Articles that answer the real question
The blog does not chase volume. It answers the five things a homeowner actually types before buying: how much cover a new homeowner in Illinois needs, what underwriters really look at when you have diabetes or high blood pressure, how mortgage protection differs from private mortgage insurance and from the policy the bank offers, and what mortgage protection means in Illinois specifically. Each is written as an answer with a clear position, because that is the shape an assistant can quote.
A crawl surface with nothing to trip on
Every public page is in the sitemap and carries a canonical. The private side of the system, the customer relationship manager, the internal board, the booking and calendar routes, is kept out of it. Assistants see the marketing site and nothing else, which is both a privacy decision and a quality one: a model that crawls a login wall learns nothing except that your site is confusing.
A calculator that is content, not a gimmick
The coverage calculator gives a homeowner a number in the language they think in, their mortgage balance and their family's situation, rather than in policy jargon. Tools like this get linked and referenced, which is how a small site earns the citations that assistants weigh.
What we measure
The same set of homeowner questions is run through the major AI assistants on a fixed schedule and the answers recorded against the baseline. We do not publish numbers from a business we own as though they were a client result. If you want to see where your own business stands, the audit is free and takes 48 hours.
The Carmi Agency is owned by RankCurrent's founder, who is the licensed producer named on the site. It is shown here because it is a build we can open up completely, in a regulated sector where the usual shortcuts do not work, not because it is an arm's length client.
If you are in a regulated trade
The same logic applies to law, medicine, dentistry, financial advice, home inspection and the licensed trades. If a model cannot confirm your credential, it will name the national directory instead of you. Making that credential machine-readable is usually the cheapest, highest-leverage fix available to you. Ask us to check yours.
